Seamer Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Problems.

'Serious blow' for the English camp as Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

The English seamer further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England after leaving the ground on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his left hamstring post-delivery in his spell on Saturday.

Team management stated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time on the sidelines for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the tour in Sydney starts on Sunday, 4 January.

England have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was called up to provide backup.

His form was underwhelming during the first two matches, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was omitted of the third Test, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.

Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, then making 28 with the bat being one of only three teammates to reach double figures.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he resumed for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test following his omission of the third.
