The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating action and insanity with the same excitement, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those things.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by featuring a different setting and group of personalities in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant trust and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the core of society through this complex and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
