Trio Shortlisted for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the upcoming Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
These three athletes have been recognised for their outstanding achievements over the previous year.
Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a unprecedented innings.
Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his sensational debut year.
The shortlisted athletes were announced live on a popular morning radio program.
This year's winner will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday, 18 December.
The show will be televised from seven in the evening GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Only 90 days after her international debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to winning the Euros.
She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.
Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the top young European talent.
She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.
Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"Being on the shortlist for this honour is incredible," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler's 2025 began in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.
He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.
He didn't stop there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, smashing the previous record.
"Earning a spot on the shortlist for the honour once more is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a proud moment for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.
Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.
It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.
Perrin finished second in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
